Melva Eva was born on April 25, 1923, the daughter of Leo and Edna (Seaman) Ultch in Waverly, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. Blasberg, 87, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly, Iowa, of natural causes. Melva Eva was born on April 25, 1923, the daughter of Leo and Edna (Seaman) Ultch in Waverly, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, Iowa. She graduated from Waverly Shell Rock High School in 1940. Following her education, she worked at and Independent Meat and Grocery store in Waverly. On January 21, 1945, she was united in marriage to Edgar Blasberg at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly. She helped her husband on the farm, retiring in March of 2000. Melva continued to live on the farm until 2009, when she became a resident of the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly and Farm Bureau. Melva is survived by her husband, Edgar Blasberg of Waverly, Iowa, sisters-in-law, Lorena Thurm Iowa, and LaVera Blasberg, a brother-in-law, Vernon (Alleen) Blasberg of Denver, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Yvonne Gambaiani, two sisters-in-law, Leona Lau, Erna Schwemm, and three brothers-in-law, Roland in infancy, Alwin and Alfred Blasberg. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Chapel – Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly with Pastor Curt Schneider of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice – Waverly office, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community or St. Paul's Lutheran Church
