He was born on July 10, 1916 in Madison County the son of Ernest and Minnie (Klug) Hille. He was baptized on July 22, 1916 and confirmed on June 7, 1931 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He moved with his family to Sidney and then later returned with them to Norfolk. He helped his father farm. Melvin was united in marriage with Miss Dorothy Butterfield on November 3, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church North of Howells. The couple farmed northeast of Stanton, and then moved south of Wisner where they worked on a farm raising turkeys. They next moved north of Wisner where they farmed until 1952 when they moved northwest of Norfolk and farmed until 2007 when they moved into Norfolk. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served on many boards, and committees. Melvin is survived by: …his wife Dorothy of 69 years, …their children, ……Eugene and Ruth Hille of Norfolk, ……Larry and his wife Connie Hille of Pierce, ……Judy Burnett of Norfolk, …a daughter in-law Betty Hille of Norfolk, …two sisters, ……Elaine Nitz and ……Sylvia Lichtenberg both of Norfolk, …a sister in-law Lucy Hille of Lincoln, …12 grandchildren, …22 great grandchildren, and …3 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: …his parents, Ernest and Minnie Hille …one son Dale, …one brother and …two sisters. Visitation for family and friends of Mr. Hille was held Sunday, July 25, 2010, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals, Norfolk, Nebraska. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 26, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Norfolk. The committal service followed in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Norfolk.
