Description	:	FULLERTON—Melvin E. Boardman, 88, of Fullerton, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2019, at Fullerton Community Church in Fullerton with Pastor Vern Olson officiating. A private family interment will be at a later date at Fullerton Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, October 13th at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton. Boardman, 88, of Fullerton, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Melvin was born June 28, 1931 to George and Bertha (Swartz) Boardman in Fullerton. He grew up in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1948. He worked in a variety of occupations. He started out working in Iowa as a heavy equipment operator. He then returned to the Fullerton area to engage in farming south of town. His love for farming and Hereford cattle showed throughout his career. In 1986, he moved to town for health reasons. He still continued to help relatives and neighbors farm for many years after. On August 6, 1970, he was united in marriage to Ingrid Schomer and with her came a son, Michael, who he later adopted. Also to this union, a daughter was born, Janet. He loved everyone and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Ingrid of 49 years; son, Michael (Alison) Boardman of Ravenna; daughter, Janet (Jerry Chmiel) Laster of Fullerton; grandchildren, Micaela (Levi) Bamesberger, Joshua (Ciana) Boardman, Ashley Laster, and Kristine Chmiel; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara (Don) Julesgard of St. Libory. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister, Marge Good; and son-in-law, Michael Laster.
