On January 17, 1923 he married Katherine Dever at Monmouth, Illinois. Mrs. Morris preceded him in death in 1953. Also preceding him in death, two brothers, Harold and Phil, one son, Leslie, one grandson, Raymond Darrell Morris, and one great-granddaughter, Danette Oilar. Remaining to cherish his memory are one daughter, Avis Bohnenkamp of Fort Madison, two sons, Darrell of Keosauqua, Donald of Bonaparte, 16 Grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Etta Poling of Keosauqua, other relatives and many friends. Mr. Morris had lived in Iowa for over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army, 88th Division, World War I, including overseas time in France. He was a 50 year member of the Bonaparte Sargeant-Osweiler Post #563 American Legion. He was a good citizen and friend to all. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 23, 1978 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with the Rev. Harold Schnedler, pastor, officiating. The organist was Mrs. Keith Wolf. Pallbearers were Harold Pratt, Richard McCracken, Walter Meyer, Ervin McCracken, David Warner, Jr., Kar Gregory, Robert Barker and Ward Gregory. Interment was in Bonaparte cemetery, Bonaparte, Iowa with military rites in charge of Bonaparte Sargeant-Osweiler Post #563 American Legion. A memorial was established.
