Description	:	Phil Morris Phil A. Morris, son of Steve R. and Sadie E. Morris, was born Sept. 25, 1895, in Scotland county, Mo., and passed away at the Davis County hospital, in Bloomfield, at the age of 60 years, nine months and five days. In young manhood he united with the Methodist church at Asberry, Mo. On Oct. 28, 1916 he was united in marriage to Lela I. Davis at Memphis, Mo. To this union were born two children. Morris, was born Sept. 25, 1895, in Scotland county, Mo., and passed away at the Davis County hospital, in Bloomfield, at the age of 60 years, nine months and five days. In young manhood he united with the Methodist church at Asberry, Mo. On Oct. 28, 1916 he was united in marriage to Lela I. Davis at Memphis, Mo. To this union were born two children. He is survived by his wife, Lela; his son, Charles, and daughter, Lola; one son-in-law, Jim Hull; one daughter-in-law, Josephine Morris; three grandchildren, Bennie and Paul Ed Morris, and Judy Hull; one sister, Etta Polling of Keosauqua, and two brothers, Melvin of Bentonsport, and ???d of Mt. Sterling. For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Morris lived on farms in the vicinity of Cantril, later moving to town. About thirty years ago he began auctioneering, crying farm and household sales. About sixteen years ago he began selling at the Bonaparte Community sales barn not missing more than three Thursdays in the sixteen years. ?? also helped with sales at Fairfield and Keosauqua sales barns. On Jan. 1, 1950, he began his duties as a member of the Board of Supervisors of Van Buren county, this being the first year of his third term in office. Phil was a veteran of the firs world war and a member of the Cantril post of the American Legion. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and a host of friends. Funeral service was held at the Cantril Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon, July 3rd, Rev. Herbert C. Shaw, officiating, assisted by Rev. Edward Durbin, pastor of ?? church. A male trio consisting of L.V. (Beggs), Larue Wilson and Dick ??, sang two songs, accompanied by Mrs. Vera Fritz at the piano. At the grave S.E. Wellborn ?? John Creath, members of the Cantril Legion post, folded the flag and Rev. Reynolds Murdock, ??ed chaplain of the United States Air Force, presented the flag to Mrs. Morris. The pallbearers were S.E. Wellborn, Charles Owen, S.H. Daughrity, Dee Robinson, Lloyd Jamison and Lloyd Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Gaston, Chet Barker, Gene Hales and Clyde Roberts.
