Eisenhower Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. He was born December 30, 1925, in Goff, KS, the son of Melvin Howard and Ida Ellen Fuhrer Spiker. He was a graduate of Wetmore High School in 1942, and lived more than 30 years in the Wetmore community. Pete worked for Rockwell International in Atchison, KS and St. Joseph, MO for many years. Eisenhower Veterans Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. He was born December 30, 1925, in Goff, KS, the son of Melvin Howard and Ida Ellen Fuhrer Spiker. He was a graduate of Wetmore High School in 1942, and lived more than 30 years in the Wetmore community. Pete worked for Rockwell International in Atchison, KS and St. Joseph, MO for many years. He also worked for E&R Construction in Wetmore for several years, and owned and operated his own truck line in the early 1950's. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #282 in Wetmore, and was First District Commander in 1978. He was also a life member of VFW Post 5531 in Wathena, a member of the 40 and 8 in Seneca, and life member of DAV in Marysville. He was married to Norma Grubb on January 12, 1947, in Holton, KS. She survives. Other survivors are son, Mike Spiker, Wetmore, KS; sisters, Josephine Meyer, Wetmore, KS; Phyllis Hinkle, Wetmore, KS; Melba Ash, Wetmore, KS; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Patrick in 1952; infant daughter, Cindy in 1951; and sister, Martha Jordon in 1989. Services were held at Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, KS. Burial was in Wetmore Cemetery.
