Recitation of the Rosary will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Tennant Funeral Home. A reception and lunch will held at the Stoneham Community Center immediately following. Mel was born March 14, 1927 in Humphrey, NE, the fourth son of Otto and Kathryn Dollerschell and moved to the Stoneham area with his family where he received his education and graduated from the Stoneham High School. Mel was predeceased by his siblings; brothers Arnold, Wilfred, Raymond Dollerschell and sister Dolores Hoozee. Mel married his wife on August 29, 1949 at St. Anthony’s Church and they were partners for 68 years. They have two children and three grandchildren. Mel farmed near Stoneham and sold livestock feed, becoming a District Manager for the Moorman’s Manufacturing Company. In his youth, Mel was an avid baseball player and a life time St. Louis Cardinals fan. Later in life, Mel enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Riverview Golf Course and the Sterling Country Club where he had two hole-in-ones. He played golf at many of the finest golf courses on family vacations. He also enjoyed gardening and grew outstanding tomatoes and cantaloupes, which he shared with family and friends. In his youth, he enjoyed playing the trumpet and singing for the Jive-n Five Jazz Band. He also sang in St. Anthony’s choir for several years. Mel enjoyed wood working and built many pieces of furniture for his family in his shop. Mel was a life-time member of the Sterling B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1336. Mel is survived by his spouse, daughter, son, and grandchildren. In Mel’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Mel Dollerschell Memorial Fund, sent to: Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751. To be used for a bench at the Riverview Golf Course or donated to St. John’s Catholic Church in Stoneham. Names of Survivors Omitted Per Find A Grave.
