Read More	Melvin Walter Wieger was born May 29, 1917 in Day County, South Dakota, the son of John Edward and Lizzie (Bloom) Wieger. He died on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Brookview Manor Nursing Home in Brookings at the age of 90 years. He attended rural school in Day County. Melvin was united in marriage to Rozella Stee on May 30, 1942 and served in the United States Army during World War II from July 31, 1942 to December 9, 1945. He worked for seven years at Kellogg Cement, 13 years at Thelen International and was employed for six years at Osvog and Farmer's Implement. He retired in 1982. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the V.F.W. Melvin is survived by his wife Rozella of Brookings; two sons, Warren Wieger and Steve Wieger and his wife Sandy, all of Brookings; two grandchildren, Heidi and Cory; two great grandchildren, Brianna and Kendra; one brother, Ray Wieger and his wife Delores of Russell, KS; two sisters, Ruth Braley and her husband Dennis of Waubay, SD, Doris Osborne and her husband John of Riverton, WY; a sister-in-law, Ruth Wieger of Waubay; a brother-in-law, Willis Hamman of Summit, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Funeral Service: Saturday, November 24, 2007 First Lutheran Church, Brookings, SD Interment: First Lutheran Cemetery, Brookings, SD Arrangements by Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings.
