She was born October 27, 1917 on a farm near Vliets, Kansas, the daughter of Guy and Florence Steckel. She lived in the area most of her life. Melvina was married to Karrell L. Rose, September 7, 1938 in Walla Walla, Washington. To this union was born three children. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Sue DeWalt, Blue Rapids, Kansas; two sons, Raymond L. (Lloyd) Rose and Wallace B. (Wally) Rose, both of Frankfort, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Johnson, Wilmore, Kentucky. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Winifred, Kansas, Mission Circle and the E.H. U. Melvina is remembered in many ways, by her husband of fifty years, faithful and loving wife and a devoted homemaker; by her children as a loving concerned mother; grandchildren and great-grandchildren who spent time in her home "the biggest hearted grandma this side of Heaven"; neighbors and friends by her caring and of herself; a flower lover with a special fondness for roses. She touched us with her smile and constant faith. She was our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. We loved her. Melvina had a wide circle of friends she acquired the years she worked at Glynn's Variety Store in Frankfort. Reverend Gene Wall pastor of the First Baptist Church, Winifred, Kansas and Reverend Loren Mohler were in charge of the services. Janell and Robert Wullschleger, Winifred Sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" Pallbearers were grandsons, Kevin Rose, Shawn Rose, Roderick Rose, Chester Fincham Jr., and Marvin Richardson. Burial was in Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas.
