Read More	SOURCE: THE MONTICELLO EXPRESS…May 20, 1937….Page 1 Number 48 FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MENNO MOENK CASTLE GROVE FARMER FOUND DEAD IN HIS CAR THURSDAY MORNING; BURIAL MADE SUNDAY Funeral services for Menno Moenk, 38 year old farmer living seven miles northwest of Monticello, were held Sunday afternoon at the Castle Grove Lutheran Church where Mr. Moenk held membership. The service was in charge of Rev. Arnold Thaincker. Burial was made at the Castle Grove cemetery. Mr. Moenk succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning while seated in his car at his home last Wednesday evening. He was not found until shortly before 8 o'clock Thursday morning. A verdict of accidental death was issued by the county coroner. He was born July 4, 1898 in Wayne township, Langworthy, the son of Henry Moenk and Goethke Margaretha Siebels Moenk. He was baptized in the Wayne Zion Lutheran church in infancy and confirmed in the faith on March 31, 1912. His boyhood days were spent at the parental home near Langworthy where he also received his schooling. On February 1, 1922, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Caspers at the St. Peter and Paul Church in Castle Grove Township. The Rev. M. Sherf performed the ceremony. The young couple settled on a farm in Hardscrabble, seven miles northwest of Monticello, where they have since lived. Four children, Andrew, Grace, Gerhard, and Lillian were born to this union and are now left with his widow to mourn his death. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moenk of Monticello. Five brothers, henry of Wyoming, August of Castle Grove township, John of Langworthy, George of Chicago and Conrad of Monticello and six sisters, Mrs. Eilert Prull of Anamosa, Mrs. Will Rickels of Castle Grove, Mrs. Carl Brockhohn of Anamosa. Mrs. Fred Ahrenhotz of Monticello, Mrs. Clifford Soyer of Anamosa and Mrs. Blohm of Center Junction. Many other relatives and friends mourn his untimely passing.
