They were married for 34 years. ------------------------------ The following obituary for Mercy J. was published in the "Buchanan Record" newspaper, in Buchanan, Michigan, on Thursday, Feb. 25, 1892, page 3, column 3: ---- DIED. - Mrs. Mercy J. French, widow of Samuel French, whose death was recorded in these columns last week, died last Thursday, eleven days succeeding the death of her husband, aged 74 years. Her maiden name was Barnard, born in Hague, N. Y.: married a Mr. [George] Wheadon, with whom she lived four years, until his death. She afterword married Mr. [Samuel] French, with whom she lived happily thirty- four years. She was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church since she was ten years old. The funeral services were held from her late residence, Sunday, and the remains taken to the Howe cemetery for burial. ----------------------------- The following obituary was published in the "Niles Daily Sun" newspaper, in Niles, Michigan, on Friday, Feb. 19, 1892, page 4: --- Mrs. Samuel French, a most estim- able lady, died at her home in Ber- trand township on Wednesday after- noon last. Her husband died about a week ago. ----------------------------
