Description	:	Meredith Darlington Morris was the only son of John and Margaret (Ayers) Morris, born in 1871 in Flushing, Belmont, Ohio. He grew up on his parent's farm of about 141 acres in the Rock Hill area southwest of Flushing, a farm he eventually inherited and lived on when he returned to take it over in 1919 following his father's death. He was extremely accomplished, having obtained a degree to qualify as a teacher from Mount Union College in Ohio in 1889, then later work at Harvard University (1896) where he also received a degree, and then an A.M.... Read More	Meredith Darlington Morris was the only son of John and Margaret (Ayers) Morris, born in 1871 in Flushing, Belmont, Ohio. He grew up on his parent's farm of about 141 acres in the Rock Hill area southwest of Flushing, a farm he eventually inherited and lived on when he returned to take it over in 1919 following his father's death. He was extremely accomplished, having obtained a degree to qualify as a teacher from Mount Union College in Ohio in 1889, then later work at Harvard University (1896) where he also received a degree, and then an A.M. (Master of Arts) from Columbia University (1911). From 1899 to 1903 he was principal of Martins Ferry High School in West Virginia, and later taught in the Parkersburg, WV area prior to returning to Flushing in 1919. At that point, he became a "farmer" until appointed Postmaster of Flushing, serving in that capacity from at least 1936 until his death. Meredith Morris was married to Estella May Parks ion June 18, 1896 in Boston, MA. In addition to one daughter who died in infancy in 1897, they had two sons and one daughter. Meredith died at work in 1942.
