Description	:	November, 8, 1956 Hawarden Indepent Pocklington Rites Held Sunday At Associated Church Funeral service for Merle Pocklington, 50, were held at the Associated church in Hawarden Sunday afternoon, Rev. John C. Thorns officiating. Hal Shoemaker sang ''The Old Bugged Cross" and "Going Home" with Mrs. 'Shoemaker accompanying at the organ. Merle Tresler was- born March 6, 1906, in Akron, Iowa. His mother died when he was two years old and Merle was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Pocklington and officially took the name of Pocklington. From this time on he lived in Hawarden with his foster parents. From this time on he lived in Hawarden with his foster parents. He was married to Louella Jacobe June 28, 1934, at Algona. They lived all of their married life in Hawarden. Three children were born rto this union. Mr. Pocklington died -November l. He was preceded in death by his mother in 190S, his father in 1935, a sister, Mary, -who died in infancy, and two .brothers, Vent in, 1941 and Lee in 1952. He is survived' by ihis widow; two sons, Kay and Larry; one daughter, Lynette; has foster parents; two sisters, .Mrs: Julia Berfiend- of Buffalo, Gap, S. D., and Mrs. Viola Bourretit of 'Sunburst, Mont., and three brothers, Floyd of Medelia, Minn., Ira of Akron, and Walt of Canton, 0. D. Out of town relatives attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Ira Trosiler and sons of Akron, Mr. and Mrs.. Walt Tresler of Canton, Joe Pocklington of, Onamia, Minn,, .Mrs. Ed Feelin of (Fulin) Milaca, Minn., Mrs. Donna Penrod of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Lottie Case, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Case, Mrs. Lois Leokness and Frank Case, all of Huron, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Starts of Clinton, la., Mr. and Mis. Leo Bellock of Algona, Mrs Bessie Wallen, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Goetsch, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Craik and Miss Gladys Pecaut, all of Sioux City, Mrs. Dorothy Sonichson and Mrs. Jim Soniohson, both of Yankton, and Phil Schiefen of Hudson.
