Read More	Obituary, ELLENSBURG DAILY RECORD 10, 6, 2008: MERLE WARREN GILMOUR passed away October 5, 2008 while resting peacefully at his home. MERLE was born October 1938 in Ellensburg to LOWE GILMOUR and his wife IRENE ST. JOHN GILMOUR. He shared a full life with his loving wife, MARYLOU MONTFORT GILMOUR for 50 years. The GILMOUR family sold groceries in the Kittitas Valley since the late 1800's. Having grown up in the grocery business, MERLE followed in his family's footsteps, purchased and operated MR. G's. GROCERY until selling the store to his son ROBBE. Dad loved his customers and employees, considering them like family. He watched his customers and their kids grow up and shared their life as they came to MR. G's. Many employees started working in high school or as a freshman at CWU and stayed with him until they graduated from college. MERLE was generous with his time and energy for his family, friends, church and community. He shared his Christian faith by the way he loved people and treated them with respect and kindness. His unconditional love and care for others was endless. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved the family cabin on Sacheen Lake. He was a doer in all facets of life. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. he served as a leader of AWANA helping children memorize God's word and learn about Jesus Christ. He was the Treasurer and active volunteer for F.I.S. H Food Bank. He shared many Saturday morning breakfasts with the Calvary Men's Bible Study group. His purposeful life is cherished by his wife MARYLOU, son RAY and CRYSTAL GILMOUR and children ANA and SPENCER, Ellensburg; son ROBBE and ROBIN GILMOUR, Sand Point, Alaska and children GRANT and ANGIE GILMOUR, Las Vegas and CRYSTAL GILMOUR, N. Y. City. Also, his brother GARY GILMOUR, Ellensburg, brother's KENNY (Peggy) HOLMES and HAROLD (Shirley) HOLMES and the many nephews and nieces that were part of his life. MERLE was preceded in death by his sister NANCY LUND in 1972, his mother IRENE in 1978, [step - mother] VIRGINIA HOLMES GILMOUR in 1990 and his dad LOWE in 2003. Following a family graveside service, you are invited to his Memorial Service at the Calvary Baptist Church on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11 am..."
