Description	:	Merlin Eppling, 66, of rural Kingsley, IA, died Friday, April 22, 1994, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton with Chaplain Leland Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Earnest-Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley. Military Honors were provided by the Nash American Legion Post #140 of Kingsley. Mrs Marlene Peterson was organist. Merlin Eppling was born on the family farm in rural Kingsley June 15, 1927 to Leonard and Martha (Hopp) Eppling. Merlin graduated from Union High School in 1946. He entered the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in 1951 and upon discharge returned back to the family farm. Merlin was united in marriage to Gloria Hayward on June 26, 1970 in LeMars and farmed until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Church officer, and at the time of his death was the head Elder. He was also a member of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau and had served on its Board of Directors. Along with his love of agriculture Merlin enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife Gloria of rural Kingsley; two sisters and their husbands, Lorna and her husband, Duane Heimgartner of Hinton and Marlys and her husband, Walter Susemihl of Movie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Marvin, in 1937
