Description	:	CHINA - Merlon Nelson Farris, 86, of Pleasant View Ridge died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at his home after a brief illness. Born on Feb. 19, 1911, he was the son of Archie and Florence (Wiggin) Farris and attended school in China. Merlon was a lifelong resident here and was born in the same homestead that he was currently living at. He was married on April 4, 1940, to Yvonne Emma Dostie in China. Read More	CHINA - Merlon Nelson Farris, 86, of Pleasant View Ridge died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, at his home after a brief illness. Born on Feb. 19, 1911, he was the son of Archie and Florence (Wiggin) Farris and attended school in China. Merlon was a lifelong resident here and was born in the same homestead that he was currently living at. He was married on April 4, 1940, to Yvonne Emma Dostie in China. Merlon was a dairy farmer all of his life. He exhibited his prize winning cattle at Winsor Fair for many years and won many ribbons. He also attended other fairs around the area. In addition to his wife of 56 years of China, he is survived by three sons, Nelson R. Farris and his wife, Sharon of China, Earl F. Farris and his wife, Carol of Augusta and Carl L. Farris and his wife, Phyilis of China; his sister Mary LaCroix and her husband, Lucien of Waterville; 11 grandchildren, John Prouix, Jacqueline Farris, Ronald Farris, Tim Farris, Shane Farris, Libby Furrow, Lilly-Ann Bickford, Roxann Farris, Shannon Powell, Lindsay Farris, and Bry-Ann Farris; six great-grandchidren, Joanna Farris, Shane Cameron Farris, Terry Farris, Bradley Bickford, Braxton Powell, and Nathan Bickford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His sister, Beatrice B. Witham formerly of Clinton, died Jan. 20, 1996. Friends may call today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Gray & Pratt Funeral Home, Windsor Neck Road, Windsor. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at China Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Morrell officiating. Burial will follow at China Village Cemetery.
