Description	:	It is with profound sadness that the family of Mervin Ritcey, 87, announce his passing on July 4, 2021, at home. Born and raised in Baker Settlement to the late Eudie and LeRoy Ritcey, he continued to make a home in this community with his wife, Phyllis and their three children. He enjoyed many years on the family farm where one of his favourite accomplishments was the satisfaction of a crop of hay well made and the camaraderie of a cold drink and conversation after it was safely stowed in the barn. Born and raised in Baker Settlement to the late Eudie and LeRoy Ritcey, he continued to make a home in this community with his wife, Phyllis and their three children. He enjoyed many years on the family farm where one of his favourite accomplishments was the satisfaction of a crop of hay well made and the camaraderie of a cold drink and conversation after it was safely stowed in the barn. Mervin is survived by his wife Phyllis, daughter Kathy (William) Demond, grandchildren Kirk and Katherine DeMond, Nicole Hubley and Brittany Ritcey and many extended family members: Mark, Derrick, Brad, Jonathan, Gerri and Chantal. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Baker Settlement Cemetery Committee for many years. He will be laid to rest there on Thursday July 15, 2021, at 2pm. It is for this reason that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Baker Settlement Cemetery. This was his charity of choice. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the friends and neighbours for their condolences, calls, texts and cards. And to Krista at the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home for her knowledge and professionalism.
