Description	:	It is with deep emotion that the family of Phyllis Ritcey announces her passing on December 23, 2021 at the family farm in Baker Settlement. Phyllis was born in a tiny community beyond Stanburne known as Rosebud. Her parents Opal and William raised fourteen children with great love and devotion. The siblings remained close throughout their lives. When Phyllis was sixteen she was chosen to return with relatives visiting from the US. She spent two six month sojourns with them. Read More	It is with deep emotion that the family of Phyllis Ritcey announces her passing on December 23, 2021 at the family farm in Baker Settlement. Phyllis was born in a tiny community beyond Stanburne known as Rosebud. Her parents Opal and William raised fourteen children with great love and devotion. The siblings remained close throughout their lives. When Phyllis was sixteen she was chosen to return with relatives visiting from the US. She spent two six month sojourns with them. This broadened her mind, allowing her to experience first hand the different ethnic groups in Mattawamkeag, Maine during the early 1950's. Upon her return home, she worked at the LaHave Sewing Factory and Dr. Cunningham's drug store in New Germany. It was about this time that Phyllis met Mervin Ritcey as her sisters were dating his uncles. They married, moved to Baker Settlement, fulfilling Phyllis' heart's desire to have children of her own. A woman of many talents, Mum could deliver a calf and literally sew the best costume for her daughter's school play from a burlap bag. She volunteered countless hours painting, wallpapering and sewing for others, helping with community suppers at the Baker Settlement Community Hall and teaching Sunday school at the Lutheran Church.
