BOHLKEN DIES NOV. 24 AT MONTICELLO M Katherine Bohlken, 54, died Thursday morning, Nov. 24, 1977, at the Monticello Senior home where she had been a resident but a few days, after several weeks illness. M. Katherine Bohlken was born Oct. 14, 1923 near Scotch Grove, the daughter of Tobias R. and Elise J. Burrack Bohlken. She received her early education in the Scotch Grove area schools. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and was now a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church, Monticello. After the deaths of her parents, Katherine moved to Monticello and had been employed in the housekeeping department of the Senior home, Monticello. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Don (Irma) Skelley, Monticello; Mrs. Mary Saathoff, Cedar Rapids; and a brother George H. Bohlken, Scotch Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 1977 at the St. Matthew Lutheran church and interment in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello. The Rev. Harold L. Naig officiated at the services. Casket bearers were, Eugene Hanken, Gilbert Hearn, Luverne Plueger, Theodore Freese, Henry Behrends and LaVern Lambert.
