Micha Ann MEESE, was born in Ohio September 27th, 1838, died in Beaver, Oklahoma, February 10th, 1908, at 5 o'clock p. m. She was a daughter of Elder D. D. JOHNSON and was converted baptized and united with the Baptist church when a child. She has always been a true Christian, a kind wife and a loving mother. She was married to William C. MEESE, who died on Easter 1905. To them were born seven children, of whom four survive her: H. D. MEESE of Beaver, John P. MEESE, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Mrs. Alice LIBBEY, Pleasant Lake, Indiana, and S. Allen MEESE, Beaver, Oklahoma. Impressive funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church conducted by Rev. Leonard, at 3 o'clock p.m., Tuesday after which all that was mortal of this fondly beloved mother, was tenderly conveyed to our Silent City, where she was laid to rest in peace, amid tears of sorrowing relatives and friends. The deceased was the mother of a large family many of whom now have "silver threads among the gold" as a reminder that they, too, are nearing life's sunset. As the death dew gathered on her marble brow, around her bedside gathered her "boys" - grown to mature years with boys and girls to bless their own homes. The life so long interwoven with theirs with tearful eyes they watched as it, slowly but surely passed over. The boys that gathered about the bed of this dying mother and so bravely, by loving care, fought the Death Angel, long ago passed out from the little home circle. Business cares and their own homes, may have robbed mother of their companion ship, but she was ever just the most sacred jewel of their thought. Only a few weeks ago she arrived in Beaver in company with her son, S. Allen, on a visit to her eldest son H. D. whom she had not seen for twenty years. What rejoicing, what preparation there was to receive her but now - she has come, the sweetness of her presence has been felt, only to be followed by bitter anguish and sorrow for - she has come, the sweetness of her presence has been felt, only to be followed by bitter anguish and sorrow for - she has gone never to return. The Grim Reaper came, after a brief illness of only a week of pneumonia, and she was rudely snatched away. But, she is not gone. She only waits on the other shore in company with her devoted husband and children who preceded her to the better land, there together to await the coming of those who now weep and mourn her departure. She has been a consistent Christian since childhood and died firm in the faith. The friends of H. D. MEESE and family, who are legion, together with the many friends of S. Allen MEESE, who has only resided in our midst a short time, extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved in their irreparable loss. (Published in The Beaver Herald (OK), February 13, 1908.)
