Description	:	Funeral services for Michael Blaskey were held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 10 at the community Methodist Church, the Rev. David F. Barker officiating. Mrs. O.F. Ehlers was the organist and Mrs. Margaret Wright sang the hymns, "One Sweetly solemn thought" and "Beyond the Sunset." Flowers were in the care of Mrs. Ralph Lansing, Mrs. Vernon Leichliter and Mrs. Ethel Goben. Bearers were Warren Marker, Clifford Swanson, Ted Brown, Everett Hubby, Oliver Erickson and Richard Fenner. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery at Ogden. Michael Blaskey, son of Jacob and Mary Yulca Blaskey was born in Poland on Nov. 26, 1887 and died at the Boone County Hospital, Boone at 7:30 p.m. May 8, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 12 days. He came to the United States in 1895 and settled with his parents at Pottsville, Pa. They later moved to Incline, Iowa where his father was killed in a mining accident. In 1899 his mother was married to Joe Martindale and to this union six children were born. On Oct. 10, 1910 Mr. Blaskey was married to Ida Lindahl of Ogden, who preceded him in death in 1953. With the exception of a few years in Gillespie, ill., they spent their married life in Boone Count. Mike received his naturalization papers in Macoupin County, Ill., on Sept. 25, 1914. Survivors include his children: Virgil of Keosauqua; Lester of Keokuk; Mrs. A.K. Stephens (Leona) of Carthage, Mo.: Mrs. R.L. Andrew (Iola) of Des Moines; Mrs. Paul Madden (Avis) of Fairfield and Merrill of Minneapolis; eleven grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters Mrs. Carl Hanson, Orlando Fla.; Mrs. C.E. Anderson in Oregon; Ralph and tom Martindale of Idaho; John Martindale, Des Moines; Sydney Eddy, Indianola, Mrs. Ray Runyon, Mrs. William Pestotnik and Mrs. Howard Curell of Boone and Mrs. Alex Begg of Ames. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and son, Morris. God saw that you were suffering And the hills were hard to Climb He gently closed your weary eyes.
