Read More	Confidence: Direct and primary evidence Citation text: Weekly Nashua Post newspaper Chickasaw, Iowa 1881 Death of Michael Cagley Mr. Michael Cagley died at his home in this township Sunday night, April 3rd, 1881. The deceased was born October 20th 1816, and was therefore 65 years, 5 months and 14 days old when he died. He had been attending court at New Hampton last week, left for home Wednesday March 30th. While riding home on the stage from Ionia he stated that he was unwell, and when near home got out and said he would walk the rest of the way. He had gone but a short distance when he was met by Mr. Keasling who took him home. Medical aid was summoned and it was ascertained that the disease was of the heart. In his death Bradrord township has lost one of her best citizens. Although one of the wealthiest men in Chickasaw county, it has never been said of him that he ever oppressed anyone. Of the many mortgages he has held it is said he never foreclosed in a single instance. Mr. Cagley was a genial, cheerful and accommodating man, one whom it was always a pleasure to meet. He was a man of sterling principals, and a host of friends mourn his death. We are sure that it must be a source of comfort to the bereaved ones to know that here where he has spent so many years of his life and was so well known, all speak in high praises of his good qualities. A wife and five children survive him. The funeral took place at the house on Tuesday, April 5th, where over four hundred paid their last tribute of respect to the deceased. Rev. Wm. Gibson was the officiating clergymen.
