Stapleton resident, 77 STAPLETON — Michael Dean “Mike” Lemmer, 77, of Stapleton died of cancer Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Stapleton with the Rev. James Hunt officiating. Inurnment will be at St. John’s Cemetery near Stapleton. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Book signing will be from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday at Arnold Funeral Home. He passed away with his wife by his side after a short battle with cancer. Michael was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Buffalo County to Richard and LaVerne (Kincheloe) Lemmer. He graduated from Elm Creek High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. He was an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8258 of Stapleton. Michael worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years. He enjoyed football, fishing, gambling, telling stories and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Marie of Stapleton; his children and their spouses, Ronald and Laura Lemmer of Greensboro, N.C., Kelly and Robert Carruthers of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard and Lisa Lemmer of Mount Holly, N.C., Catherine Cary of North Platte, Constance McCarter of Colorado Springs and Angela Hardy of North Platte; stepdaughters, Tina Barrett of Callaway and Shelly Callaway of North Platte; siblings and their spouses, James and Patricia Lemmer, Robert and Beverly Lemmer and Lou Ann Walters; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and LaVerne Lemmer.
