Description	:	Michael Hayek was born in Czechoslovakia in 1859. In 1873, at the age of fourteen, he came to the United States with his family. His family first settled in Wisconsin. Four years later, they moved to Iowa and settled in Otter Creek Township. In 1889 Michael married Katerina Stoklas, who had immigrated several years earlier to the United States with her family. Michael and Katerina were the parents of three children; Frank, Agnes, and Michael, Jr., who died in infancy. Agnes married Joe F. Sebesta. In 1914 Frank married Anna Pokorny, daughter of Joseph and Ella Dvorak Pokorny, of Clutier. Frank and Anna became the parents of George, Anna & Marie (twins), Helen, Frank Jr., Lillian, Wesley, Leonard, Agatha, Phyllis, Stanley, and Bernard. Frank and Anna lived and farmed in Otter Creek Township until 1948, when they moved to Clutier, Iowa. Frank died in 1970 and Anna in 1976. George, born in 1915, married Dorothy Nachazel in 1939, and they were the parents of Ronald, George Jr., Margaret, Collette, Mary Lou, John, Rita, and Kathryn. Dorothy died in 1975. In December, 1977, George married Dorothy Hadacek Haack. George is retired from farming. He and Dorothy presently live in Elberon, Iowa. The twins, Anna and Marie, were born and died August 25,1916. Helen, born in 1917, married George Posusta in 1945. They were the parents of Jim, Stanley, Lester, Steven, Robert, Marilyn, and Joanne. George died in 1963, and Lester was killed in an auto accident in 1977. Helen presently lives in Toledo, Iowa. Frank, Jr., born in 1918, married Bonnie Nolan in 1960. Their children were Tim, Kathy, and Jane. Frank died in 1990. Bonnie lives in Clutier, Iowa. A daughter, Lillian, was born in 1919, and died in 1928 Wesley, born in 1923, married Mary Kremier and became a medical doctor specializing in surgery. Wesley and Mary were the parents of Michael, Mark, Susan, Tom, and Mary Claire. Mary died in 1969. In 1974, Wesley married Pat Holley. He died in 1988. His wife, Pat, lives in St. Louis, Missouri. Leonard was born in 1925, and in 1947, he married Lillian Posusta. They were the parents of Eugene, Carolyn, Monica, Mary Kay, Norman, Anthony, Francis, Ramona, Teresa, Paul, Connie, and Joseph. Joseph was born and died on the same day. Leonard died in October of 1976. His wife Lillian lives in Toledo, Iowa. Agatha, born in 1928, entered the Notre Dame Sisters, a teaching religious congregation in 1947, and presently ministers at Bishop Neumann Jr. Sr. High School in Wahoo, Nebraska. Phyllis, born in 1930, entered the Notre Dame Sisters in 1950, and is presently manager of the Notre Dame Sisters Housing for low income senior citizens project located in Omaha, Nebraska. Stanley, born in 1933, was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Dubuque in 1959. The title of Monsignor was bestowed upon him in 1993. He presently serves as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Charles City, Iowa. Bernard, born in 1936, married Arlene Meier in 1962. They were the parents of Angela, Michael, Brian, and Jeffrey. Angela died at birth. Arlene died in 1997. Bernard spent many years in teaching and presently lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
