Read More	Michael Hoffart March 26,1865-Jan 15,1934 Obituary of Michael Hoffart Michael Hoffart, deceased, was born on March 26th, 1864, in Kirch-Brombach, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany. At the age of 16 years, in June 1881, he emigrated to the United States and resided at Plattsmouth, Nebraska, until 1892 when he moved to Pierce county where he remained the rest of his life. On September 7th, 1893, he entered into holy wedlock with Katherine Horn whom death took from the side of her husband 15 years ago. However God had blessed the union with six sons and one daughter. The deceased must be classed as one of the hitherto remaining earlier settlers and as a pillar of Immanuel Lutheran church on the board of which he served a number of years. In the late years the health of the deceased was not rugged. The asthmatic condition from which he suffered for a number of years was aggravated several weeks ago by the contraction of a cold. And though the cold was overcome, the system, humanly speaking, left too weak to restore itself. The end came on Monday morning, January 15th, at seven o'clock. The years of his earthly sojourn, 68 years, 9 months, 20 days, nearly reached the lower biblical boundary of three score years and ten. Those who mourn his departure are his seven children; Karl, Ludwig, Harry, Hugo, Ernest, Bernard, and Mrs. Tom Smalley; his two brothers, Louis and Jacob, all of Plainview; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Rummel, Plattsmouth, Neb., Mrs. Mary Hoferer, Verdigre, Nebraska, and Mrs. Lizzie Falter, Willow Lake, S.D. During his last illness he was served with the word of God which had been richly implanted into his soul all his life, and with the holy sacrament of the altar. In the strength of this meat he fought his last battle, and - we fondly hope - conquered. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 1.00 o'clock from the funeral chapel of B. Boyens at Plainview and Memorial services at the Immanuel Lutheran church at Eden Valley. They were in charge of Rev. G. Obermeyer, pastor of the Creighton Zion Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment was made in the Eden Valley cemetery. The deceased was a cousin of Henry Falter, former Creighton resident and now of Hartington, and Mrs. M. J. Horn, who resides northeast of town.
