Read More	Forney, Michael John Dec. 19, 1878 ~~ May 11, 1955 Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida Grove, Iowa ----- Michael John Forney, affectionately known as "Bud" Forney, son of William Christian and Emma Kenter Forney, was born in Harrisburg, Pa., December 19, 1878. He died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11 about 11 a.m. He had been in ill health for a long time. He came with his parents to Ida county when a small boy where he spent the rest of his life. He was married to Emma Rathburn on February 22, 1905, who had been his beloved and devoted wife for over fifty years. Many friends will remember sharing the blessed celebration of their Golden Wedding anniversary only last February. The Forneys lived on a farm south of Ida Grove for 39 years before moving to town in 1941 where they have since resided. Two daughters were born to them, Margaret, Mrs. H. G. Evans of Lake Zurich, Ill., and Bernice, Mrs. Walter Wellendorf of Sac City. Surviving are his widow Emma, a brother Frank of Ogden, Utah; the two daughters and five grandchildren, Joan, Roger and Steven Evans of Lake Zurich, Ill.; and Marjorie and Thomas Wellendorf of Sac City. Bud made a lasting contribution to his neighborhood and community. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for several years and actively shared in its program of brotherhood. As a small child he confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptised in the Church of God in Harrisburg, Pa. For a number of years he attended the Pleasant Valley Sunday school in Corwin township. He maintained a high type of character and held to the lasting and meaningful values of life. The overwhelming response of friends and loved ones from far and near when the Forneys celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in February is a ringing testemonial and what Bud and Emma, as they are loveingly known to all of us, have meant to their friends neighbors and loved ones. The memory of a good man, a good neighbor and a good friend will remain with us forever. Funeral services were held at Moore & Christensen Funeral home on Sunday May 15 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Russell Wilson officiating. Mrs. Kenneth Carney sang "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Beyond the Sunset", accompanied by Mrs. Ronald Courtright. Burial was in the Ida Grove cemetery. Pall bearers were, Albert Streck, Forrest Petersen, James Crane, Walter Muller, Clyde Crawford and Ray Miller. Relatives attending the services were from Onawa, Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Correctionville, Anthon, Storm Lake, Sac City, Odebold, Battle Creek, Schleswig, Lake Zurich, Ill., Ogden, Utah, Arthur, Montezuma, Humboldt and Laurens.
