Collins make this occasion more than unusually sad; sad and mournful. Mr. Collins was almost instantly killed last Sunday afternoon, when an automobile in which he was riding crashed into an embankment at the side of the road. The call came to him very unexpectedly, very suddenly, and that is a reminder to us to be prepared, for at what hour you know not the Son of God shall come. It is in illustrations like these when the Hand of God is shown in all its superb power over the lives and fortunes of men, we humbly see the mighty splendor of the Great Book's wisdom and truth when it says, "Death comes like a thief in the night." It was a message of anguish to the crushed and bleeding hearts of his three young children; a message that has well night broken the heart of his aged father, his sisters and brothers. The news of the tragedy brot (sic) a thrill of horror to all Clare and cast a gloom of sadness over the entire community. Michael Collins was born in Fort Dodge, fifty-two years ago, and when a child moved with his parents to the old homestead on the Lizard (creek). On November 21, 1894, he was married to Miss Anna E. Cain, and to this union four children were born. One child, Minerva, died in infancy. On July 18, 1904, the death angel again entered his happy home and plucked therefrom the wife and mother and he was left with three little children of tender age whom he so tenderly cared for and bestowed upon them every loving kindness and devotion. The children are: Harold, who is stationed at San Antonio, Texas, and Fannie and Lee, who live at home. Wherever M. J. Collins went he made warm friends, as he was of a happy disposition; he wished good luck and happiness to everybody. If he had enemies they were few; if he had faults they were trivial. He spoke no uncharitable words about his neighbors; the kindly word was ever on his tongue. He was a devoted husband and an affectionate father. But death is a hard master. He would take from us our brightest and best, but the memory of this unselfish life forms but another chord to draw his loved ones to the brighter home beyond. In the death of Michael Collins not only his family and relatives, but also his wide circle of friends feel that they are personally bereaved, but almighty God saw fit to take him out of this vale of tears to his home, where we earnestly pray eternal rest in his forever.
