Read More	Obituary, News-Advocate, Audubon, Iowa, November 1987 Heading: Michael Koenig Michael Koenig, the son of John Sr and Salome Weber Koenig, was born December 27, 1891 in Mietesheim, Alsace-Lorraine, Germany and died November 2, 1987 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa, at the age of 95 years. In October of 1903 he came to America with his parents and grew to manhood on a farm in Cameron Township, Audubon County, attending rural school at Cameron No. 9. He was baptized as an infant in Mietesheim and joined the Ross Calvary Evangelical Church in January 1904. He remained an active member, attending faithfully as long as his health permitted. On December 25, 1913 he was united in marriage to Mary Neitzel at the home of her parents. Following their marriage they farmed on the Koenig home place five miles north of Audubon. They resided there until 1962 when they retired and moved into Audubon. Since May of 1981 they have been residents of the Friendship Home. Preceding him in death were his parents, and four sisters: Salome Jedele, Kate Weible, Margaret Wiederstein and Anna Bauer, and four brothers: George and John Jr Koenig, and Jakob I and Jakob II Jedele, both of whom died in Mietesheim, Germany before reaching adulthood. Survivors include his wife, Mary Koenig, and August Neitzel (Brother-in-law), Martha and Mary Neitzel (Sisters-in-law), all of Audubon, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted November 4, 1987 at the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross, with Rev. W. A. Musson officiating. Interment was in the Arlington Heights Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Elmer Bauer, Walter Koenig, Leonard Neitzel, Harold Scott, Harold Weible, and Walter Wiederstein. Contributor: John Ludwig (48422337) • [email protected]
