Description	:	Michael Lee Saporito, 72, of 42 Camp, Columbus, Kan., passed away at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at his home where he resided all his life. He had been in ill health suffering with post-Polio Syndrome for the past 20 years and seriously ill the last five months. Read More	Michael Lee Saporito, 72, of 42 Camp, Columbus, Kan., passed away at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at his home where he resided all his life. He had been in ill health suffering with post-Polio Syndrome for the past 20 years and seriously ill the last five months. He was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Pittsburg, Kan., the son of Mike and Frances (Sigler) Saporito. He attended school in Columbus, graduating from Columbus High School in 1953. He joined his father, Mike Sr. in the Saporito Beverage Company. He continued that operation until ill health forced his retirement in 1983. Michael served in the United States Army and reserves from 1957 until 1964. He was instrumental in establishing the family business, Josie's Ristorante in Scammon, Kan. Michael married Sally Jo Jones on Feb. 7, 1959, in Miami, Okla. She survives at the home. He was a member of the St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon. Survivors include his wife, Sally, of 48 years; two sons, Michael Kevin Saporito and wife, Karen and Gregory Joseph Saporito and wife, Kristi, of Columbus; two daughters, Mindy Lee Saporito, of rural Columbus, and Shelly Marie Lero and husband, Rick, of Scammon; three sisters, Ruth Bradney and brother-in-law, Edd, Anna Mae Hicks and Dolores Bolinger, of Pittsburg, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Michael Saporito, Kevin Saporito, Travis Saporito and Nick Saporito, of Columbus, Tyler Thomas, Pittsburg, Micah Thomas, rural Columbus, Brandon and Michael Lero, of Scammon; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike Saporito and Frances Saporito Grimaldi; and a daughter, Melissa Ann Saporito. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon, with Father Chrysostom Ah Maung and Father Larry Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget's Cemetery in Scammon. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 West Main Street, Weir, Kan., where the family will receive friends following until 8 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions can be made to the St Bridget's Cemetery or to Trinity Hospice. Memorials may be brought by or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 West Main Street, Weir, Kan., 66781.
