Pallbearers were six grandsons, Leslie Perezek, Marion and Warren Carpenter, Harold Schuessler, Clarence Amish and Wayne Burr. Music for the service was furnished by H. S. Hamilton, accompanied at it the piano by Mrs. Hamilton. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Clarence Amish, Marcella Schuessler, Shirley Burr and Mrs. LeMoine Heither. Interment was in the Lone Tree cemetery. Michael Schuessler, the son of Agatha Eberling and Adam Schuessler was born in Baden, Germany, on February 18, 1850, and departed this life at his home in Lone Tree, on October 22, 1938, at the age of 88 years, eight months and four days. The early years of his life were spent in Germany, where he united with the Evangelical church. He came to the United States with his parents to establish their new home at the age of 18. The last 70 years of his life were spent in this vicinity, living on the home farm until November 1927 when he moved to his present home in Lone Tree. On May 3, 1877 he was united in marriage to Mary Stamm, at Illinois City, Ill. To this union were born 13 children of whom two died in infancy. Mrs. Schuessler also preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1926, leaving to mourn his passing Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner, of West Liberty; Stephen Schuessler and Mrs. Mary Parizek of Lone Tree; Wm. Schuessler of West Liberty; Mrs. Emma Timmerman of Iowa City; Mrs. Louise Burr, Mrs. Frieda Carpenter, Miss Laura Schuessler, Mrs. Bertha Jehle, Albert and Arthur Schuessler, all of Lone Tree; also one brother Conrad, of Deep River, Iowa. Two brothers, Adam and Stephen, and two sisters, Katherine Schuessler and Mary Emde, preceded him in death. Besides his own children he leaves to mourn his departure from this life 15 grandchildren, other relatives, a host of friends and neighbors.
