Pallbearers were Fred Stock and August Meyer of Lone Tree, and Harold Dexter, Cecil Barnett, Jodie Heath and William Hotz, all of West Liberty. William August, son of Michael and Mary Stemm Schuessler, was born in Johnson County, Iowa, September 10, 1887. He was educated in the country schools and farmed with his father on the Schuessler place until he was nearly forty years old. In 1926 he bought the farm on which he was living at the time of his death. On October 27, 1927 he was united in marriage with Ella Marie Pokrantz. To this union one daughter, Ella (Helen) Marie, was born, dying in infancy. Mr. Schuessler brought his bride to his farm and together they have made it their home. Mr. Schuessler has always been a hand worker and had always enjoyed good health until about three years ago when arthritis set in. Since then he has not been as active and has grown gradually weaker. Death came to end his suffering as he slept about 11:00 o’clock Tuesday evening. January 21st 1941. His age was 53 years, 4 months, 11 days. He is survived by his wife; three brothers, Stephen, Albert and Arthur, all of Lone Tree; seven sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Wagner, Mrs. Emma Timmerman, of Iowa City; Mrs. Mary Parizek, Mrs. Freida Carpenter, Mrs. Louise Burr and Laura, all of Lone Tree; Mrs. Bertha Jehle of West Liberty, and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church of Lone Tree.
