Cramblit, 69, 326 W. Golf Ave., died Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at Ottumwa Hospital. The widely known Ottumwa woman had suffered a heart attack four days earlier. Widow of an Ottumwa merchant, she was prominent in Republican Party work. She had been Fourth District committeewoman, and had held state offices in Republican women's organizations. She was active in local party work and had been county cochair man through a number of campaigns. In addition to her political party work, Mrs. Cramblit was a pioneer leader in Parent-teacher Association organization in Iowa. She and her late husband attended First Methodist Church. Mrs. Cramblit was a circle leader and participated for many years in other church activities, including official board membership. She also was a member of Willing Circle of the King's Daughters. Born Dec. 19, 1891 in a now vanished coal mine town in Appanoose County, she was Miggie N. MacKenzie, daughter of John Edward and Mary Ann Richards MacKenzie. She retained a lifelong interest in the Welsh coal mining families of the Ottumwa area. A few years ago she journeyed to Wales, where she had relatives. She and William N. Cramblit were married Aug. 18, 1913 in Ottumwa. He died May 29, 1954. Her husband was a partner in the Cramblit & Poling clothing store here. Surviving are three sons, William N. and David M. Cramblit, both of Ottumwa and Lue Donald Cramblit, Pasadena, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Whitney Foster, Piedmont, Calif., and Mrs. Peter Dunne, Cheyenne, Wyo.; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William R. Edgar and Mrs. Thomas W. Stevens, both of Ottumwa, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Geraldine Coleman, and a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Paul Hann, district Methodist superintendent living at Mount Pleasant and former pastor at the local church. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. OTTUMWA COURIER
