Read More	MIGNON FARRIS DIES AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS Mignon Mae Farris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Farris, was born at Silver Creek, Nebr. on July 2, 1918, and passed away at St. Mary's hospital in Columbus, Nebr. on August 26, 1940, at the age of 22 years, 1 month and 24 days. She received the most of her education at the Silver Creek School, having graduated from the High School in 1936. During 1937 and 1938 she was a part time employee at Sand office where she learned to operate the linotype, and in September 1938 she attempted to teach school near Havens. Poor health forced her to give up the school after two months, but after resting for nearly a year she felt much better and had planned to teach this fall in Nance county rural school. Several weeks ago, however, her condition became worse and she gradually grew weaker. Her ambition was to teach school and but few have been imbued with as much ability as she had, if she would only had the physical strength to use her talents. Mignon love the Church and Sunday School, and always did as much for the Church as her strength would permit. Early in her life she publicly confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Methodist Church at Sidney, Nebraska. On Oct. 29, 1933 she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Silver Creek. The Church had first place in her life and she was never too busy to do whatever she was asked to do for the Lord. Mignon was loved and esteemed by all who knew her. Her passing is a great loss to the entire community, but it is indeed a great blessing to Heaven, for she was so well prepared for everlasting life with Jesus, and she now has the reward for which she labored and sacrificed. Her suffering was long and intense, but she bore it patiently; always with a smile, constantly looking to her Master to help her in the trying hours. We will miss her happy smile, her warm handshake, and her remarkable personality. Her inspiring way was like a breath of fragrant spring air, and we will strive to be worthy of her hopes. While she came into our lives for a few brief years, she gave us the laughter of her lips and eyes; the touch of her hand in ours. Now that she has turned away, we only have these memories. She leaves to mourn her passing her parents Mr. and Mrs. S.B. Farris, three brothers: James, Donald and Billy Farris, all of Silver Creek, Nebr. along with many relatives and friends. Mignon is waiting in that garden fair, Yes in heaven, just up there, Waiting for her friends to see, Her father, mother, even you and me. Since her leaving, its night-time here, But morning dawned for her up there, Now with Jesus she's at home Where cares and dangers cease to roam. A sweet and loving smile in show To us and strangers anywhere she'd go, This she meant for us to keep, When things seem hard, or dark and deep. This parting now, we do regret; We're not prepared to follow yet, Sometime we may follow too, And be with her in heaven's blue. Funeral services were conducted Thursday August 29, 1940 at 2:00 p.m. at the home and at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church, by Rev. H.F. Beebe, assisted by Rev. W.M. Parker, pastor of the Methodist Church in Columbus, Nebraska. Interment was make in the Silver Creek cemetery. Silver Creek Sand, August 30, 1940
