She was born May 24, 1923 in Presque Isle, the daughter of Arthur and Emily Shaw* Sawyer. She married Linwood Cronkite on September 7, 1940 and quickly settled into her new role as a homemaker and farmer’s wife actively working the farm alongside her husband. She was born May 24, 1923 in Presque Isle, the daughter of Arthur and Emily Shaw* Sawyer. She married Linwood Cronkite on September 7, 1940 and quickly settled into her new role as a homemaker and farmer’s wife actively working the farm alongside her husband. Millie graduated from the Eastern Academy of Beauty Culture in May 1941. Following the sale of the farm, they settled into their home on Blake Street, the big house she always hoped to have. After Linwood’s passing she moved to her apartment. Throughout the years she liked doing ceramics and, although she loved to cook, she especially enjoyed eating out. Her flower gardens gave her great pleasure, especially her roses. Millie’s lifelong relationship with her Lord was evident as a great Prayer Warrior for her family, friends, and church. She had a thankful, kind and gentle spirit and gave her service to Him by helping with Bible classes and hosting Bible studies in her home to name a few. She attended State Street Baptist Church in her earlier years and then the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed being part of the Senior Bible Study group. She is survived by daughter Pamela Jardine and husband Roger of Lady Lake, FL and their son Chad Jardine and wife Tina; son Brent Cronkite and wife Nancy of Presque Isle, their children Christa Waugh and husband Mike, Megan Bouchard and husband Christian, and Nathan Cronkite; daughter Candice Williams of Presque Isle, her children Elizabeth Miller and husband Dustin, Tera Warren and husband Matthew; daughter Lynne Gardiner and husband Mike of Presque Isle, their children Amanda Lovley and husband David, Marissa Post and husband Jonathan; son Randy Cronkite and wife Carrie of Westfield and their children Seth Cronkite and wife Abigail, Keith Brantley and wife Michelle, Bethany Lozada, Luis Lozada and Chris Lozada; daughter Dale Sue Deabay of Brewer and her children Brad Deabay, Brock Deabay and wife Hila, Keri-anne Deabay, Taniesha Deabay and Eli Deabay; and 21 great-grandchildren. Millie was predeceased by Linwood in 2005, her infant sister Hannah, and granddaughter Elena Lozada. To honor her wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in the spring. Donations may be made in her memory to Presque Isle Wesleyan Church, PO Box 763, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
