Description	:	DALTON — Mildred C. “Mickey” Workman, 82, of Dalton, formerly of Jackson Township and Loudonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. Mickey was born on Dec. 22, 1934, in Lake Township, Ohio, to John and Esther (née Smith) Shearer. She graduated from Loudonville High School in 1952 and Akron University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1992. She married Eugene W. “Gene” Workman on Aug. 20, 1954, in Englewood, California. Gene died Dec. 9, 2001. Read More	DALTON — Mildred C. “Mickey” Workman, 82, of Dalton, formerly of Jackson Township and Loudonville, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. Mickey was born on Dec. 22, 1934, in Lake Township, Ohio, to John and Esther (née Smith) Shearer. She graduated from Loudonville High School in 1952 and Akron University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 1992. She married Eugene W. “Gene” Workman on Aug. 20, 1954, in Englewood, California. Gene died Dec. 9, 2001. After raising her family, Mickey worked as a social worker for Westark Family Services, retiring in 1999. Following retirement, she worked for the AHEAD after-school program until 2005. Mickey was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Orrville. She was a former member of the Senior Services Coalition League of Stark County and a past Board member of the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club, the Wayne County Community Foundation and the Friends of Hospice. Mickey was also a volunteer for United Way of Orrville and former volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Wayne and Stark counties and the Massillon Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading in her book club, attending the theater in Cleveland and watching Ohio State and local sports teams. Surviving are her son, Mark Eugene (Diane) Workman of Lebanon; three daughters, Carol Lynn (Jim) Tufano of Columbus, Cathleen Ann (Brian) Fagan of Cincinnati and Cheryl Marie (Jim) Sumser of Dalton; grandchildren, Samuel Workman, Emily Workman, Nicholas Woodruff, Alexandria Woodruff, Aharon (Emily) Woodruff, Kent Fagan, Cynthia Fagan, Sarah Sumser, Will Sumser, Paige Sumser, Rachel, Rebecca and Nikki Tufano; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Daniel, Madison and Emily Woodruff; a sister, Connie (Wayne) Dessenberg of Loudonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Gene, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Jo Rohr; and siblings, Virginia Shearer, Robert Shearer, Janice Baldner, Richard Shearer and James Shearer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 4, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1556 Rex Drive, Orrville, with Pastor Ginger Pflueger officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling the arrangements.
