Description	:	Mildred Doris Walter-Brown, daughter of Oliver and Minnie Hammon Howard was born February 18, 1899 in Adams County, Iowa and passed away August 7, 1984 at the Jefferson Manor in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 19 days. She was united in marriage in Corning, Iowa April 21, 1920 to Royce Walter who passed away November 15, 1964. Later she married Marion Brown in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mr. Brown preceded her in death June 25, 1982. She lived most of her life in Adams County until moving to Jefferson in 1984. She lived at Westgate Apartments, Apartment #32 before going to Jefferson. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Corning. She had been active in the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church until it closed. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Walter and his wife Opal of Jefferson and Jerry Walter and wife Donna of Madrid, Iowa; three daughters, Eileen (Mrs. John) Hargis of Des Moines, Jean (Mrs. Quentin) Carlson of Red Oak, and Mary Lou (Mrs. Gerald) Shircliffe of LaPuenta, California; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown's eight children; a sister, Marie (Mrs. Elmer) West of Lenox and a brother, Howard and wife Elsie of Ycaipa, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and a sister Eunice Landrus. Funeral services were held at the Goodwin-Lindsay Funeral Home in Corning August 11, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ken Rummer Officiating. Interment was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery. Music was provided by Erma Fuller, organist and Lee West and Erma Fuller, Vocalist. Pallbearers were Dean Brees, Clifford Brown, Russell Hedinger, Rollie Spring, Robert Walter, and Robert Walter Jr. Honorary bearers were Bernard Brown, Calvin Downey, Albert Hedinger, Ernie Love, and Roy Spring.
