Mildred was born May 19, 1921, to Ernest and Laura Coward in Grand Junction, Colorado, their second of four daughters. Mildred was born and raised in the Appleton area, and graduated from the old Appleton High School in 1939. She married Roy John Grossman on November 4, 1945, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Read More	Mildred Ellen Grossman May 19, 1921 - August 26, 2009 Mildred Ellen Grossman, 88, returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven on the morning of August 26, 2009. Mildred was born May 19, 1921, to Ernest and Laura Coward in Grand Junction, Colorado, their second of four daughters. Mildred was born and raised in the Appleton area, and graduated from the old Appleton High School in 1939. She married Roy John Grossman on November 4, 1945, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Their marriage was later solemnized and their family sealed together forever in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Mildred joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband and children on January 1, 1955. She was a devoted member of the church where she held many callings and responsibilities, fulfilling each one faithfully and with love for those she served. Mildred worked at Head Start, in a junior high cafeteria, and then in the kitchen of the State Hospital, where she was honored as employee of the month several times. She retired in November 1985. She and Roy then served a mission for the LDS church to Des Moines, Iowa from August 1986 to August 1987. She was a devoted wife and mother, sewing matching Easter dresses for her little girls and cooking homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies for everyone who visited. She was never happier than when she was feeding her family and loved ones. She loved flowers of all kinds, crocheting afghans and doilies, and cuddling any baby she could find. She is survived by her husband Roy; three daughters and one son, Terrie Grossman, Patricia Bigelow, Vickie (Tony) Beard, Daryl (Cheryl) Grossman; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Lillian Grover, Pauline Grant, and Doris Grover, and one grandson, Lance, who all welcomed her home with loving arms. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, who provided loving care for Mildred in her last days. With their gracious assistance, Mildred's passing was peaceful with her family at her side, just as she would have wanted it. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred's memory may be made to Hospice or to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends may call from 4 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Martin Mortuary, 550 North Avenue, and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the LDS Church Stake Center, 2542 G Road. Funeral services will be held in her honor beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church Stake Center on Monday August 31, 2009, followed by burial in the Crown Point Cemetery.
