Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn. Mildred Leona Slaymaker Bartachek was born October 23, 1909 at Carnforth, Iowa. Her parents were Fred Austin Slaymaker and Mabel Ellen Clark Slaymaker, Mildred received her education in a rural school and the Brooklyn High School graduating in the class of 1926. She taught for one year in a country school northwest of Brooklyn and taught piano for several years. On May 21, 1926, she married Fred Morris Bartachek in St. Patrick's Church Parsonage in Brooklyn. They farmed many years northeast of Brooklyn. After they retired they moved into Brooklyn December 1, 1973. Mr. Bartachek died May 22, 1975. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, UPW and Community Welfare Workers. For many years she played the piano and organ for the junior choir at the Presbyterian Church. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Gene and Shirley Bartachek of Brooklyn and Roger and Peggy Bartachek of Brooklyn; one daughter, Delores Nix of Enumclaw, Washington; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
