As a young girl, she moved with her family to Washington. She graduated from Quilcene High School, where her friends called her "Frenchie," in 1938. She married Elmer Embody in 1939. She was 87. Mrs. Embody was born in Topeka, Kan., to Everett Hale and Olive Frances (Miner) French. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Washington. She graduated from Quilcene High School, where her friends called her "Frenchie," in 1938. She married Elmer Embody in 1939. The first home they owned was a log house he built beside Larson Lake. During World War II, they bought the hillside farm where they raised their family. She belonged to the Irondale Church, God's Implorers Bible Study Group, "Crack Pots" Ceramic Club, and Tri-Area Garden Club. Mrs. Embody was an assistant leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop and played Scrabble weekly with friends. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Leatha Bard and Wally Smith and Rona and Mike Anderson, all of Port Ludlow; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Jean Purviance, granddaughters Kristy Sprigg and Allison Sprigg, and brother John French. Services: Saturday, Aug. 30, 2 p.m., memorial at Irondale Evangelical Free Church, 681 Irondale Road, Port Hadlock, with Pastor David Hodgin officiating. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Chimacum. A reception will be held at the church after the service. Kosec Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
