Born February 26, 1930 in Abingdon, VA, she was the daughter of Nettie Bell (Thomas) Price and Claude Swanson Price, Sr. of Norrisville, MD, grandaughter of the late Venie (Poe) Thomas and Richard Thomas of Virginia and Josephine (St. John) Price and Jeffrow Price of Norrisville, MD. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Claiborne, who passed January 5, 2001; and great-grandson, Benjamin Wyatt Denton who passed in May 6, 2016; and her son-in-law, David Lee Wonner, August 10, 2016 Mildred is survived by three sons, John (Larry) Claiborne of Surprise, AZ, Terry Lee Claiborne of Felton and Mark Anthony Claiborne of Fawn Grove; four granddaughters, Jennifer Marie (Claiborne) Dialinos of Jarrettsville, MD, Kimberly Ann (Claiborne) Denton of Delta and Mandie Rene (Claiborne) Breneman of Spry, Julia Elizabeth Claiborne, Bel Air, MD; two grandsons, Kevin Lee (Claiborne) Vaccireno of Delaware and Adam Riley Claiborne of Felton; two great-granddaughters, Alexia Dialinos of Jarrettsville and Samantha Riley Denton of Delta. Mildred is also survived by her sister, Elouise Diamanti of Spanish Forks, Utah; her brothers, Richard Price of Jarrettsville and Claude Price, Jr. of York; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. Mildred married John Charles Claiborne on March 7, 1950 in Middlesboro, KY and both went on to raise their three sons together. She lived in Ann Arundel County, MD, Harford County MD, York County and moved to Surprise, AZ to live with her oldest son and his husband in July of 2014. Mildred loved Arizona and especially the weather. Over Mildred's life time, she had multiple jobs and finally retired from the Harford County school system in the late 80's. Mildred enjoyed having family in for dinners and gatherings throughout her life. Later in life she enjoyed going out to dinner and shopping. In the 70's she and the family enjoyed going to Sunset Park for Country Music entertainment and was privileged to have dinner and pictures with Porter Wagner and Dolly Parton and other entertainers. They also traveled and camped a lot at Bluegrass Festivals on the East coast. Later in life, she and her best friend, Grace Blouse of Dallastown, enjoyed travel in the U.S. and Canada, dining and shopping. Mildred was a Breast Cancer survivor since 1988 and recently had heart and kidney failures, went through operations and was currently on dialysis. Funeral services will be held at Kurtz Funeral Home of Jarrettsville, MD on Saturday, August 27. A Viewing will begin at 11 a.m. with the service immediately following. Her resting place will be along side of her husband in the Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD In lieu of flowers, please donations to University of Maryland, NICU or PICU units.
