Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery. Mrs. Grummert passed away Monday, July 27, 1992, at the hospital in Superior. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, July 30, 1992; pg. 1 ===== Mabel Maxine Grummert, daughter of George Thomas and Fannie (Maruska) Kempkes, was born November 3, 1931, in Superior, NE. She passed away while a patient at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior at the age of 60 years, 8 months and 24 days. Mildred attended Superior Schools and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1949. On May 24, 1949, in Mankato, KS, she was united in marriage to Galen Grummert. This union was blessed with three children, Daniel Lee, RoxAnne and Terry Lynn. Galen and Mildred lived in Phelps and Harlan Counties near Holdrege for many years. She was employed at Andy's Farm and Home Hatchery for several years and at Becton-Dickerson Medical Supply for a number of years. They then opened an antique business, Grummert's Antiques, which they operated for numerous years. They returned to Superior to make their home in 1991. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church for the past year. Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her husband Galen of Superior; two sons, Daniel Lee and his wife Linda of New Bern, NC, and Terry Lynn and his wife Wilda of Minden, NE; a daughter, RoxAnne and her husband Louis DeFiore of Englewood, CO; four sisters, Rose Meester and her husband Alfred of Casper, WY, Helen Haag and her husband Joe of Farmington, NM, Thelma Arnold and her husband Maurice of Omaha, NE, and Lucille Thurber and her husband Marvin of Nelson, NE; one brother, George Kempkes and his wife Linda of Renton, WA; 5 grandchildren, Cory, Jarod, Nolan, Lori and Terry Grummert, Jr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, July 31, 1992, at 2 p.m. from the Salem Lutheran Church rural Superior, with Pastor Wendell Berggren officiating. Mrss. Grummert passed away on Monday, July 27, 1992. Selections of "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by soloist Debi Garrison, with Sonia Schmidt as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were: Larry Feala, Jerry Warneke, Bob Young, Marvin Thurber, Jr., Jason Feala and Craig Grummert. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery.
