EDWARD ADVANCE MILDRED CUMMING SERVICES TUESDAY Mildred May Cumming, daughter of Frank and Etta Mae Kemp Green, was born June 21, 1902 at St. Edward and died Wednesday, November 27, 1996 at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward at the age of 94. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Edward Methodist Church. She attended elementary school in Platte County and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1919. After completing training at Kearney State Teachers College, she taught school prior to her marriage. On September 12, 1923, she was united in marriage to Robert D. Cumming at Schuyler. They farmed in the St. Edward area most of their lives except for a period of 15 months in 1936-1937 when they lived in Oregon. She had been a resident of Cloverlodge since May, 1991. She was a member of Cloverleaf Club, WCTU and was a charter member of the Goldenrod Club. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Women and was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for many years. Survivors include her son Lyle and his wife, Corinne, of Gresham, Oregan; her daughter, Nila Munson and her husband, Thomas, of Arlington Heights, Illinois; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Agnes (Mrs. Ted) Erickson of Genoa and Lea (Mrs. George Cumming of Springfield, Missouri; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert D.; her parents; her son, Ralph Eugene; grandson Mark Munson; stepmother, Rose Curry Green; two brothers, Leonard and Everett Green; two sisters, Helen Green and Ruth (Mrs. Hersie Condreay); four step-sisters, Hester (Mrs. Orvill) Cumming, Maude (Mrs. Ivan) Condreay, Belle (Mrs. R. J. Cumming, and Nellie (Mrs. Ray) Smith. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at the St. Edward United Methodist-Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mike McInnis officiating. Serving as organist was Frances Matzen. Soloist Mark Jensen sang How Great Thou Art and The Old Rugged Cross. Congregational hymns were What a Friend We Have in Jesus and Precious Lord Take My Hand. Casket bearers were Ted Jensen, Don Cumming, Bruce Condreay, Mark Jensen, Leland Smith and Glenn Dannelly. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward.
