He attended District 45 Public School and joined Immanuel Lutheran Church by Confirmation June 29, 1930. His lifetime was spent in the Polk Community, where he was engaged in farming. On March 4, 1930 he was united in marriage with Gertrude Stach, who proceeded him in death, October 20, 1969. To this union two sons were born, Gordon and Gwynuel. On February 19, 1972 he was united in marriage with Helen Lincoln. Survivors include his wife Helen,two sons, Gordon and his wife Alice of Polk; Gwynuel and his wife Kathy of Hampton; two stepsons; John Lincoln and his wife Deanna of Bellevue, Alfred Lincoln and his wife Jill of Brady; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rudolph (Alma) Gustafson of Polk and Mrs. Lyle (Helen) Ostberg of Rock Island, Ill. And one brother, Elwyn Johnson of Greeley, Colo., numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, his first wife and an infant daughter. Services were held on Thursday, April 24, 1975, with the Dr. Stephen Stohlmann officiating. “Nearer My God To Thee” was sung by the Male Chorus and the Congregation sang “How Great Thou Art”, and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”. Mrs. Doyle Klingsporn served as organist. Casketbearers were Dr. Doyle Gustafson, Gail Johnson, Michael Lincoln, LL Shenk, Carl J. Waak, Norman Wilshusen. Serving as Honorary Bearers were Bradley Johnson, Steven Lincoln, Mitchel Lincoln, Justin Lincoln, Gary Johnson. Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Polk.
