Description	:	Millard Joseph LaFlamme, age 93, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus, Montana. He had been a resident of the Manor for the last year. Millard was born on April 18, 1919 in Belle Fourche SD to Joseph and Frances (Finnegan) LaFlamme. Millard was raised in WY, SD and OR, where he attended various grade schools with high school in Rapid City SD and Medford OR. Read More	Millard Joseph LaFlamme, age 93, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus, Montana. He had been a resident of the Manor for the last year. Millard was born on April 18, 1919 in Belle Fourche SD to Joseph and Frances (Finnegan) LaFlamme. Millard was raised in WY, SD and OR, where he attended various grade schools with high school in Rapid City SD and Medford OR. He received his High School GED Diploma at Broadus MT in the Spring of 1968. He also attended various law enforcement schools. Millard was inducted into the US Army on October 19, 1942, with active duty by November 4, 1942 during World War II. He was wounded while serving in Germany when blown off a church steeple while sniping. He received for meritorious service a Bronze Star, along with the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal and Overseas Service Bar. He was very proud to have served his country and very few people knew of the medals he had been awarded. He was honorably discharged October 31, 1945. While growing up, Millard worked on various ranches in the Tri State Area. He was a retired Government Game Controller covering the counties of Powder River County and Carter County MT, and then became Deputy Sheriff of Powder River County MT from Dec 1970 until he was elected Sheriff in 1978. He held that office until he retired January 1, 1983. After retirement he did odd jobs and was a State Brand Inspector a number of years. Millard was married March 12, 1946 at Baker MT to the love of his life, Harriet Patricia "Patsy" Penn. They spent their life together in the Alzada MT area, Ekalaka MT and moved to Broadus MT about 1959 where they continued to live. Together they raised two children, Wade and Penny, and were blessed with the love of Millard's two sons from previous marriages, Donald and Richard. Patsy died March 3, 2007. Millard is survived by his sons: Wade LaFlamme of Broadus MT, Donald (Marcia) Gray of Stafford VA, Richard (Joyce) Loehding of Spokane WA; his grandchildren: Connie (Tim) Hunt of Broadus MT, Joseph LaFlamme of ND, Jason LaFlamme of ND, Michele (Kerry) Mehlin of Grand Island NE, Lynn (Michael) Weiss of Spotsylvania VA, Tony Loeding of Spokane WA, Yvonne (Brady) Millo of Spokane WA, great grandchildren: Isaac, Larry & Mason Hunt, Amy LaFlamme, Hunter Gray, Jackson Weiss, Allan Loehding, McKenna Loehding, Zachery Millo, Elycia Millo and a great great grandchild Lillianne Gray. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sharon Sorenson of Bismarck ND, and a cousin, Jean (Marvin) Sneesby of Whitewood SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, his wife Patsy, and a daughter Penny who died November 22, 2012. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 1:00 -6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Valley View Cemetery with military honors. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Broadus is in charge of the arrangements.
