Almost everybody in the Clutier community, it seemed, and hundreds of friends of the families of the victims of the tragedy from farther away, gathered to pay their last respects. It has been estimated that nearly 1,400 people were present at both services, the largest funerals ever held in this community. Both the Immaculate Conception church and the Z. C. B. J. hall were filled to capacity, and many stood outside. The floral tributes to Mildred and Milo were profuse. The funeral of Milo Konicek, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Konicek, was held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in in the Immaculate Conception church in charge of the Rev. Father Thomas Vopatek. Following the service, forty-five minutes were required for all those present to file past the open casket. Pallbearers were Fred Hushak, Marvin Untiedt Joe Pavelka, Joie Hanus, Vincent Caslavka and Elmer Blocker, all dressed in light suits. Flower girls and boys were Gladys Konicek, Elsie Konicek, Dorothy Konicek, Pearl Hushak, Gladys Caslavka, Evelyn Caslavka, Edward Konicek, Alvin Konicek, Lester Konicek, Leonard Vorba and Stanley Vorba. The flowers were cared for by Wednell Knoop and Joie Hushak. Burial was in the Holy Trinity cemetery. Surviving, besides the parents, are two sisters, Mrs. Fred Parizek, of Elberon, and Mrs. Fred Krezek, of Clutier; two nephews and two nieces, Vernon, Lillian and Bernice Parizek and Donald Krezek. Milo Konicek was born in Otter Creek township, July 31, 1916, and moved to Clutier with his parents in March, 1918. He was a graduate of the Clutier high school with the class of 1934. He had planned to start farming northeast of Clutier next spring. He was the only son, and a credit to his parents.
