Description	:	Mrs. Carl Wissink, for many years a loved resident of this vicinity, passed on at her home in Orange City Monday, November 20th, at the age of 86 years, one month and 25 days. Mina Gertrude Scholten was born September 26, 1864, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Scholten at Zutphen, Gelderland, Netherlands. The family came to the United States in the spring of 1871, to Sioux County in 1883. Read More	Mrs. Carl Wissink, for many years a loved resident of this vicinity, passed on at her home in Orange City Monday, November 20th, at the age of 86 years, one month and 25 days. Mina Gertrude Scholten was born September 26, 1864, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Scholten at Zutphen, Gelderland, Netherlands. The family came to the United States in the spring of 1871, to Sioux County in 1883. She was married March 2, 1892, to Carl Wissink and the family lived east of Alton until 1924 when they moved to Orange Cioty. Six children were born to this union, of whom two sons survive; Dr. Gerrit M. Wissink of Mankato, Minnesota, and the Rev. Charles B. Wissink of Gran Rapids, Michigan. Survivors are her husband, the two sons and five grandchildren; and one brother, Wm. Scholten of Orange City. She was preceded in death by four young children. Three brothers also preceded her, John Scholten, Henry Scholten and Herman Scholten. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 22, at 1:30 at the Wissink home and 2:00 p.m. at the First Reformed Church, Orange City, the Rev. Henry Colenbrander officiating. Interment was in Nassau Township Cemetery at Alton. Pallbearers were nephews: Gerrit Scholten and Simon Scholten of Alton, Bernard Scholten of Hull, Leonard Scholten of George, Gerhard Scholten of Boyden, and Dr. Wm. K. Scholten of Spirit Lake. Mrs. Wissink was a fine Christian mother, active in church and Sunday School work for many years, and a leader in the work of the women's societies of the Alton Reformed Church of which she was a devoted member before moving to Orange City and united with the church here. She was a kind neighbor and understanding friend and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Sioux County Index - 30 November 1959
