Dowd, daughter of Ira and Martha Wison Callen, was born on Nov. 15, 1887 in Appanoose County, Iowa and passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ottumwa at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 19 days. She had been seriously ill the last two weeks. On Sept. 5, 1921 Mina was united in marriage to Henry Clarence Dowd. To this union three sons were born, Dean, Donald and Delmar. Dowd, daughter of Ira and Martha Wison Callen, was born on Nov. 15, 1887 in Appanoose County, Iowa and passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ottumwa at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 19 days. She had been seriously ill the last two weeks. On Sept. 5, 1921 Mina was united in marriage to Henry Clarence Dowd. To this union three sons were born, Dean, Donald and Delmar. She spent her early adult life as a teacher in the rural schools in the county. Mina was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia and worked for her Lord through the church untl her failing health. She was active in the W.S.C.S., and a lifetime member of class "9". She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, an infant son Dean, one brother Riley Callen and her parents. She is survived by two sons, Donald and Delmar of Moravia, her twin sister, Mrs. Ina Miller and another sister, Mrs. Paul Miller both of Knoxville; her two daughters-in-law, Casey and Janet Dowd of Moravia; seven grandchildren, Rhonda, Martha, Audrey, Laurie, Sheila, Julie and Donna Jean, many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Grace United Methodist church on Tuesday, June 6, 1972 at 1p.m. with Rev. Thomas Woodin offciating. Burial was in the Moravia Cemetery.
