Larkins daughter of William and Margaret Jane Larkins was born January 27, 1880 at the old homestead on Rose Creek four and one half miles south of Chester, Nebraska, and died at the Belleville Hospital, Belleville, Kansas on February 18, 1950 at the age of 70 years and 22 days. She was united in marriage to Carlton C. Swaney at Belleville, Kansas on April 19, 1899. Together they shared their joys and sorrows for nearly 51 years. They celebrated with relatives, friends and neighbors their golden anniversary in the home last April. She made the good confession and was immersed in the early nineteen hundreds southeast of Chester by an evangelist who was holding a revival in the neighborhood at the time. She has lived her entire life four miles south of the State line on Highway 81 near the old homestead. Mrs. Swaney had not been well for a number of years spending part of the time in a wheel chair. She is survived by her husband, three sons, and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one sister, Winnie E. Davis of Chester, Nebr., and one brother, Emery Larkins, of Belleville, Kansas. There she leaves to mourn her death besides other relatives and a host of good friends. She was the youngest of twelve children. All have preceded her in death except the one sister and brother. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 21, 2:00 pm at the Christian Church in Chester, Nebraska. Rev. C.M. Foust officiating. Interment was made in the Chester Cemetery.
