Three children were born to this union: David Ernell now of Monte Vista, Colorado; Hermon now of East St. Louis, Illinois; and Merritt A. who died May 1, 1942. Her husband died November 14, 1907. During the days of her widowhood she was tenderly assisted by her devoted brother, David Cheney.Notwithstanding this, she knew the burden of loneliness, care, and anxiety involved in rearing her fatherless children. She was a brave soul, and a patient sufferer. Her sufferings, during her last illness, were lightened by the tender devotion of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Merritt A. Beamer. She leaves to mourn her death, besides her children, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Russell, of Boss, Missouri, and Mrs. Mary Martin, of Terre Haute, Indiana; one brother, David Cheney, of Ransom; seven grandchildren; and other relatives, and friends. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church of Ransom on October 22, at 2 p.m. Western Ks. World, Oct. 29, 1942
