Description	:	Minnie Mae Carpenter, 95, passed away Aug. 25, 2007, at St. John's Lutheran Home. Minnie was born Nov. 19, 1911, in Oakes, N.D., the first child of Herbert and Clara Slater. Minnie attended schools in Selfridge, N.D., and attended college in Ellendale and Valley City, N.D. She also attended Western College in Dillon before graduating from Carroll College in Helena. She was an elementary school teacher for 28 years, teaching in Pryor, Molt, Austin and Helena, and also substituted for four years after her retirement in 1975. Minnie was born Nov. 19, 1911, in Oakes, N.D., the first child of Herbert and Clara Slater. Minnie attended schools in Selfridge, N.D., and attended college in Ellendale and Valley City, N.D. She also attended Western College in Dillon before graduating from Carroll College in Helena. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lynn Calvin Carpenter; her parents; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by one son, Dale E. Carpenter (Cheryl); two daughters, Dorothy A. Schaak (William) and Iva C. Lemaster (Julian); four grandsons; eight great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by two sisters, Della Fiest and Sylvia Nathan (Otto); and one sister-in-law, Helen Slater. Minnie was a faithful Christian throughout her life. The family would like to extend their thanks to all the staff at St. Johns Lutheran Home, who tenderly cared for Minnie the last 10 months of her life. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery in Billings. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Home, 3940 Rimrock Road, Billings, MT 59102. Arrangements are by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
